Details change: new timings, a new phone number, a move to a bigger shop. The videos show how to edit each part of your profile. They also show how to change sensitive details, like the business name, without putting the listing at risk.
How to edit
- Search your business name on Google while signed in, or open the Maps app.
- Choose Edit profile.
- Pick the section: About (name, category, description), Contact, Location, Hours or More (attributes).
- Make the change and save. Some edits go live in minutes; others go through review.
Changing the business name
Only change the name if your real-world name has changed, for example new signboard, new registration. Make sure your signboard, website and documents match first. Adding keywords to the name is against Google's rules and is a common reason for suspensions.
Changing the address
If you move, edit the address on the same profile so you keep your reviews. Google may ask you to verify again. Do not create a second profile for the new address.
Edits that need care
- Several big changes at once (name, address and category together) can trigger re-verification. Space them out.
- Check Google's suggested edits; members of the public can propose changes.
- Keep the same details on your website and directories.
Use our local business schema generator to update your website's details too, and run the score checker after editing.
