Google Analytics 4 (GA4) shows how people find your website and what they do there. Set up properly, it tells you which marketing brings enquiries.
Step 1: create a property
- Go to analytics.google.com and sign in with your business Google account.
- Create an account and a property in your time zone (India) and currency (INR).
- Add a web data stream with your website address.
Step 2: install the tag
- WordPress: use a trusted plugin or Site Kit by Google.
- Shopify: connect through the Google & YouTube app.
- Custom sites: paste the Google tag into every page’s head, or use Google Tag Manager.
Step 3: track enquiries as key events
GA4 records page views and some actions automatically. You need to mark what matters as key events:
- Form submissions (easiest with a thank-you page).
- Clicks on phone numbers.
- Clicks on WhatsApp buttons.
- Purchases, for online stores.
Step 4: link Search Console
Link Google Search Console to see search queries inside Analytics. Read our Search Console guide.
Reports to check monthly
