Headings and paragraphs make up most of the text on any web page. These two videos explain heading tags from H1 to H6 and the paragraph tag.
Headings: H1 to H6
HTML has six heading levels:
<h1>Main title of the page</h1>
<h2>A main section</h2>
<h3>A sub-section</h3>
- Use one H1 per page for the main topic.
- Use H2 for main sections and H3 for points inside them. H4 to H6 are rarely needed.
- Do not skip levels just to get a smaller font; change the size with CSS instead.
- Headings help readers skim, help screen readers navigate and help search engines understand the page.
Paragraphs
<p>This is a paragraph. Browsers add space above and below it.</p>
- Each block of text goes in its own <p> tag.
- Browsers ignore extra spaces and line breaks in your code; use separate paragraphs or <br> for a line break.
- Keep paragraphs short on the web: two to four sentences.
