Businesses often outgrow website builders and move to WordPress for flexibility. The move needs care to keep rankings.
Plan
- List all pages and their URLs.
- Export blog posts if the builder allows; otherwise copy manually.
- Download all images.
- Note titles, descriptions and important settings.
Build
- Set up WordPress on good hosting.
- Recreate pages with a theme or builder.
- Keep the same URLs where possible; if not, plan redirects.
- Use clean slugs; create them with our URL slug generator.
Redirects
Map every old URL to its new URL with 301 redirects; create rules with our redirect generator.
Switch
- Point the domain to the new hosting.
- Check that the domain connection with the old builder is removed.
- Test forms, tracking and pages.
- Submit the new sitemap in Search Console.
