Your contact form is where interest becomes an enquiry. Small design choices decide whether visitors finish it or leave.
How many fields?
Ask only what you need to follow up. For most businesses that is name and phone, with email optional. Every extra field loses some people, so add fields only if they help you respond better.
When to add more fields
- Qualifying questions for high-value services, like budget or timeline.
- Details you genuinely need to quote, like area size for interiors.
Use dropdowns or options rather than open text where possible.
Make it easy on mobile
- Large fields and buttons.
- The number keypad for phone fields.
- Labels that stay visible, not just placeholder text.
- Clear, friendly error messages that say how to fix the problem.
Write a clear button
“Submit” says nothing. “Get my free quote” or “Book my visit” says what happens. Design one with our button generator.
Add reassurance
- “We reply within 30 minutes during working hours.”
- “No spam, no obligation.”
- A link to your privacy policy.
Offer alternatives
A WhatsApp button and phone number next to the form catch people who prefer not to type.
After submitting
- Show a thank-you page that says what happens next.
- Send an automatic WhatsApp or email confirmation.
- Follow up quickly; speed matters more than anything.
- Test the form monthly to make sure enquiries arrive.
