Most of your profile is edited through Edit profile, but some important options live in a separate settings screen. The video goes through each one so you know what they do.
Where to find settings
Open your profile on Google Search while signed in, select the three-dot menu, then Business Profile settings.
What is in there
- People and access: add or remove owners and managers, and transfer primary ownership.
- Notifications: choose what you are alerted about by email and on your phone.
- Advanced settings: your Business Profile ID and store codes, which help when you have several locations.
- Linked accounts: connections with Google Ads and Merchant Center.
- Remove Business Profile: stop managing a profile, or mark the business as permanently closed.
Edit profile options
From Edit profile you manage the business information customers see: name, category, description, contact details, location, hours and attributes. The video shows how the two screens fit together.
Good habits
- Check People and access every few months and remove ex-staff and old agencies.
- Set special hours before every festival and public holiday.
- If you move, update the address rather than creating a new profile, so you keep your reviews.
- Do not use "Remove profile" unless you are sure. Marking a business closed by mistake can be hard to undo.
Keep the same name, address and phone on your website. Our local business schema generator helps, and the score checker shows any gaps.
