Reviews are often the deciding factor when someone compares two businesses on Google Maps. They also affect where you rank. The videos explain why reviews matter and how to manage them. The English version is above and the Hindi version is below.
Why reviews matter
- Trust: people read recent reviews before calling.
- Ranking: the number, rating and freshness of reviews are among the signals Google uses for local results.
- Clicks: star ratings show in search results and on Maps.
How to reply
- Reply to every review, good or bad, within a day or two.
- For positive reviews, thank the person by name and mention what they liked.
- For negative reviews, stay calm, apologise for the experience, and offer to fix it offline with a phone number or email.
- Never argue or share private details in public.
Our review reply generator drafts replies you can personalise.
Fake or abusive reviews
Some reviews break Google's policies, such as spam, hate speech or reviews from people who were never customers. You can report these from your profile. Google decides whether to remove it, which can take time. Reply politely in the meantime so readers see your side.
How many reviews do you need?
There is no magic number, but aim to have more recent reviews than your nearest competitors and keep them coming every month. Our review rating calculator shows how many 5-star reviews you need to reach a target rating.
