On-page SEO is the part you fully control: the content and code of each page. The video covers the key elements; the shorts below split it into one-minute parts. Use this checklist when you write or update a page.
The checklist
- Keyword focus: pick one main search phrase per page and a few related ones. Do not target the same phrase on two pages.
- Title tag: about 50 to 60 characters, main keyword near the start, and a reason to click.
- Meta description: about 150 to 160 characters that sum up the page. It does not affect ranking directly but affects clicks. Try our meta description generator.
- Headings: one H1 that matches the topic, then H2 and H3 for sections.
- URL: short, readable and with words, not numbers. Make one with the URL slug generator.
- Content quality: answer the question better than the pages already ranking. Use examples, prices, steps and local details.
- Images: compressed, with descriptive file names and alt text.
- Internal links: link to related pages using descriptive anchor text.
- Readability: short paragraphs, lists and plain language.
Common mistakes
- Repeating the keyword unnaturally.
- Copying content from other sites or your own other pages.
- Leaving default titles like "Home" or "Untitled".
- Huge images that slow the page.
