Digital marketing can be grouped by how it brings customers to you. The video explains three types: inbound, outbound and performance marketing. A Hindi version and three short clips are below.

    Inbound marketing

Customers come to you because you have something useful: a blog post that answers their question, a helpful video, a strong Google ranking or an engaging Instagram page. It takes time to build but keeps working.

Examples: SEO, blogs, YouTube tutorials, social media content.

    Outbound marketing

You reach out to people who may not be looking for you yet. Online, this means display ads, sponsored messages, cold emails to businesses, or promoted posts.

Examples: display and video ads, cold email outreach, influencer promotions.

    Performance marketing

You pay for results you can measure, such as clicks, leads or sales, and judge every rupee by its return.

Examples: Google search ads, Meta lead ads, marketplace ads, affiliate programs.

    Which should you use?

Most businesses do best with a mix: performance marketing for enquiries now, inbound marketing for steady growth later. Track the cost of each lead with our cost per lead calculator, and plan the mix with the marketing plan generator.
