Changing your business number can confuse customers and break links. WhatsApp’s change number feature helps keep your account and chats.
Before you change
- Back up chats.
- Make sure the new SIM can receive SMS or calls for verification.
- List everywhere your number appears: website, Google profile, Instagram, packaging, ads, signboards.
Using “Change number”
- Insert the new SIM, or have it available.
- Open Settings, Account, Change number.
- Enter old and new numbers and verify.
- Choose to notify contacts if you wish.
Update everywhere
- Google Business Profile and directories.
- Website WhatsApp buttons and links; recreate them with our WhatsApp link generator.

- Ads and social profiles.
Keep the old number for a while
If possible, keep the old number active with an auto-reply pointing to the new one.
