Most marketplaces require or prefer a pure white background for the main image. Getting a clean white without grey shadows takes a little technique.
Option 1: shoot on white
- Use a white sweep that curves from the table to the wall, removing the horizon line.
- Light the background as well as the product to make it bright white.
- Slightly overexpose the background.
Option 2: remove the background
Shoot on any plain background and remove it digitally. Our product image maker places products on a clean white canvas.
Checks
- The background should be pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255) for Amazon main images.
- The product fills most of the frame.
- Edges look natural, not jagged.
- A soft natural shadow is usually acceptable; check each marketplace’s rules.
File format
JPEG is standard. Convert formats if needed with our image format converter.
Secondary images
