Duplicate listings split your reviews and confuse customers and Google. They often appear after a move, a name change or when someone else created a listing for your business.
How to find duplicates
- Search your business name and phone number on Google Maps.
- Search old names and old addresses.
- Check the profiles you manage in your Google account.
If you manage both listings
Google suggests marking the duplicate profile as permanently closed, or removing it. If both are verified, contact Google Business Profile support to ask about merging reviews. Support options change, so check the current Help Centre guidance.
If someone else created it
- Open the listing on Maps.
- Choose Claim this business or Own this business if shown.
- Follow the steps to request access or report it as a duplicate.
Report the duplicate
On Google Maps, use Suggest an edit and choose the option to report it as a duplicate or that it does not exist at this location.
When two listings are allowed
- Different locations of the same business.
- Distinct departments, such as a car dealer’s sales and service, where Google’s guidelines allow.
- Individual practitioners, such as doctors, in some cases.
Prevent duplicates
Keep one owner account, update instead of re-creating, and keep details consistent everywhere. Read how to change your address.
