Posts are short updates on your Google Business Profile, a bit like social media posts. People see them when they find you on Search or Maps. They show that the business is active and give customers a reason to call today. The video walks through adding, editing and deleting a post.
Types of posts
- Update: news, a new product, a tip or a photo of recent work.
- Offer: a discount with start and end dates and an optional coupon code.
- Event: a workshop, sale or open day with a date and time.
How to add a post
- Search for your business name on Google while signed in, or open the Google Maps app and go to your profile.
- Choose Add update (on some screens it says Promote, then Add update).
- Upload a clear photo. Square or 4:3 images crop best.
- Write the text. The first 100 or so characters show before "More", so lead with the main point.
- Add a button such as Call now, Book or Learn more, then publish.
What to post
- Before-and-after photos of a job you finished this week.
- Festival offers, planned two weeks ahead.
- Answers to questions customers ask on the phone.
- New stock, new services or changed timings.
How often
Once a week is enough for most businesses. Consistency matters more than volume. Posts stay visible, but the most recent ones show first, so an old offer that has expired should be removed.
Rules to follow
Do not put phone numbers in the post text (use the Call button), avoid exaggerated claims, and do not post images with lots of text. Posts that break the rules are rejected without much explanation.
