An exit-intent pop-up appears when a desktop visitor moves the mouse towards closing the tab. It is a last chance to capture their interest.
Offer ideas
- A first-order discount for online stores; check its cost with our discount calculator.
- A free guide or checklist.
- A free consultation or audit.
- “Get the price list on WhatsApp”.
- Newsletter sign-up for blogs.
Keep it simple
- One clear headline and benefit.
- One or two fields at most; build them with our form question builder.
- An obvious close button.
Do not annoy
- Show it once per visitor, not every page.
- Do not show it to people who already enquired.
- Do not show it immediately on landing.
Mobile alternatives
Exit intent is hard to detect on phones. Use a small slide-in after scrolling or time, or a sticky bar, rather than full-screen pop-ups that Google considers intrusive.
Measure
Track how many visitors see it, convert and become customers.
Read website pop-ups.
